Republican League 11-30-2000 Home | | | Breaking News |  | Thursday, November 30th, 2000: Texas, Florida Confirm Trade The Texas Drillers have finalized a deal with the Florida Oranges for the services of 31-year old reliever Rod Nicholson and 23-year old minor league third baseman Tony Medina. In exchange, the Oranges will receive 27-year old center fielder Charles Clarke.
In his career Clarke has hit for a .293 average and totaled 296 hits, 9 home runs and 99 RBIs.
Nicholson has accumulated a 25-18 lifetime record. He has 378 strikeouts in 435.1 innings and has made 385 appearances, recording 17 career saves and putting up a 3.35 ERA. |  | Thursday, November 30th, 2000: Explorers, Knights Trade Players Signed. Missouri has worked out terms of a deal to send 25-year old right fielder Jeff Quick and 21-year old minor league first baseman Ben George to New York for 31-year old reliever Ken White and 20-year old minor league first baseman Juan Gómez. Both teams expect to introduce the players to their new teammates within a day or two.
During his career White has posted a 16-and-14 record with 20 saves and a 3.10 ERA. |  | Monday, November 27th, 2000: Burgess and Graham Dealt The players apparently knew they were on the trading block, so it did not surprise one of them when he learned that he had been traded to Missouri. "Got my bags packed already," he said, when reached for comment. The Explorers will receive 27-year old reliever William Graham, while 31-year old third baseman Jerry Burgess will go to the Texas Drillers.
Burgess's career batting average is .255. In 1180 games, he has gotten 877 hits, 89 home runs, 451 RBIs and scored 470 runs.
