Sunday, November 26th, 2000: Mississippi Wins Lottery for 1B Rice
The Wizards today announced that they have come to terms with Kyle Rice, a 29-year-old first baseman they've been scouting for a while.

Rice will earn $4,690,000 a year over 6 years and is expected to play a key role with the club.

Rice has hit for a .296 career average and totaled 558 hits, 47 home runs and 276 RBIs.

Thursday, November 9th, 2000: Wizards, Loggers Agree to Deal
The Mississippi Wizards have finalized a deal with the Maine Loggers for the services of 21-year old minor league first baseman Charles Robison and 23-year old minor league shortstop Mike Bailey. In exchange, the Loggers will receive 21-year old starting pitcher Haywood Coleman.

Since joining the league, Coleman has compiled an ERA of 4.47 with a career record of 6-7. He has 78 strikeouts in 86.2 innings and has held opponents to a .265 batting average.

Saturday, September 23rd, 2000: Rumor Mill: Díaz On Trading Block
Allegedly, Roberto Díaz has asked to be traded from Mississippi. It is rumored that he is unhappy with fans and the team management and that maybe the pressure and demands of playing here are too great.
