| Breaking News | | Monday, October 30th, 2000: Georgia Third Baseman Cream of the ML Rookie Crop It was a very productive rookie season for Georgia third baseman George Decker. He made the club, made the starting lineup, then in the regular season put up numbers impressive enough that the Metropolitan League presented him the league's Most Outstanding Rookie Award for 2000.
It was a season to remember for the 25-year-old Rebels newcomer. In addition to hitting .301, Decker played in 137 games and collected 31 home runs, 89 RBIs and 81 runs scored. | | Friday, September 29th, 2000: Conley Belts 5 Hits "It was almost like batting practice. I saw the ball very well and could just about hit it anywhere I wanted." That's what Florida center fielder Bob Conley said to BNN reporters after his fantastic 5-6 day against the Georgia Rebels at Kraft Park. "I got some good counts and used the whole field."
The Oranges had a good day, too, and won the ballgame 6-4.
B. Conley singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, singled in the 8th, walked in the 10th and hit a two-run home run off S. Cameron in the 12th.
Conley is hitting .247 in 2000 with 16 RBIs and 2 home runs. | | Monday, September 25th, 2000: Big Day with Bat: Decker 5-6 George Decker got the glory and the headlines today, while the Tennessee Nuts got the win. The Georgia third baseman easily handled Nuts pitching, going 5 for 6, but the Rebels came out on the short end of the score 7-6.
He told BNN reporters in the postgame interview, "I'm glad I got the hits, but I would trade three or four of 'em for a win... maybe even all 5 of 'em."
The Rebels skipper added, "Well, it's a shame we didn't get the victory today, especially with his standout performance. Let's just hope our team can do better tomorrow."
G. Decker doubled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 8th and grounded out in the 10th.
Thus far this year Decker is batting .299 with 29 home runs, 84 RBIs and 78 runs scored. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | P Manuel Navarro | ruptured disc (back) | 9-10 months | On DL, eligible for return (60-day DL) | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 92-70, .568 PCT | | Position in Division | 1st, - GB | | Record at home | 51-30, .630 PCT | | Record on the road | 41-40, .506 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 6-7, .462 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 30-16, .652 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 16-15, .516 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 76-55, .580 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 2-8, .200 PCT | | Record in April | 14-11, .560 PCT | | Record in May | 17-10, .630 PCT | | Record in June | 12-16, .429 PCT | | Record in July | 17-9, .654 PCT | | Record in August | 20-7, .741 PCT | | Record in September | 11-17, .393 PCT | | Record in October | 1-0, 1.000 PCT |
